We had a terrific time!!! Nick our captain was awesome. We saw turtles, dolphins and seals. The weather was perfect. The water was like glass. Check your weather report before you book this trip, these guys are not responsible for the weather and the quality of your trip will depend a lot on that. The snorkeling was the best. Visibility at least 80 feet. We didn't get any pineapple, but I got a ton in the hotel and my girlfriend doesn't mind cutting it up for me. The girlfriend loved the caves and waterfalls. IO got some good video of a pod of dolphins with a baby dolphin swimming along.
On the way back Nick opened up the throttle a bit and we got pretty soaked :) It's all good. Very glad I booked this trip. It was the highlight of our vacation so far and we been doing everything.

I was hesitant to do any of these tours because you never know what you are going to get, but I signed up with Napali Catamaran anyways after stopping into their office. I can honestly say that I have absolutely no regrets. We took a tour on their 23 foot boat with Captain Shawn at the helm - not only did he get us there and back safely, but he did an awesome job explaining the areas we were visiting, taking us into sea caves and in our case showing us where we had hiked the previous day. We didn't take this tour for the lunch, but it actually wasn't too bad either. No matter where you are, a 23 foot boat is going to get tossed around a little bit in waves, but that is half the fun of the trip experiencing the waves of the ocean. I would highly recommend this trip.

First of all, don't let the name fool you. This is not a catamaran. If the weather is stormy, you will certainly feel it if you get any kind of motion sickness. Weather was off and on rainy/seas choppy. As snorkeling goes, there was nothing to see because of bad visibility. I've heard of some outfits giving partial refunds because of this; not here. Sandwiches weren't very good. Pineapple was rotten inside. Not their fault but would it kill them to bring along 2? For the high price, the ride was rough, snorkeling non-existent, and food sub-standard. We felt they either shouldn't have taken us out or they should have given us an option to re-schedule due to weather.

The ride along the Na Pali coast is spectacular. Be forewarned, however, this ride can be very very rough and with that there are inherent dangers. The seas here can be very turbulent. While we had a great time, we were very dismayed that not only were life jackets not required, they were kept completely inaccessible to us. A nearby boat had two passengers go overboard and difficulty retrieving them. It is hard to understand how this practice of not using life jackets can be justified. It isn't worth the risk, especially when the swells are a great as they often are along the Na Pali coast. In hindsight, I wish I had not taken the risk with me and my family and had insisted we be given life jackets. We were lucky that no incident occurred. I encourage you not to take the same risk. Take this trip if you are up for a potentially wild ride, but insist on a life jacket.

We LOVE Na Pali Catamaran - one of our favorite things to do in Kauai. We've toured with them 5 times and brought friends and family. They offer a wonderful boat - large enough to be comfortable and fast and small enough to enter two of the sea caves along the coast. The captains seem really competent and we are always impressed with how they handle the boat - and our children :-) The snorkling is fabulous! Take the morning tour for the calmest waters and best chance of seeing the interior of the sea caves.

GREAT way to see the Na Pali coast. Here are some highlights and notes...
- Take something for sea sickness. No way around it, the Pacific is rough even during the calm times.
- GREAT tour guides, a couple of surfer dudes with lots of great local knowledge. The love questions and telling what they know.
- We saw spinner dolphins, sea turtles, lots of fish, reef sharks, a squid and lots of blue, blue water.
- They take you into a couple caves for some great photo opps.
- Wear something warm for the ride back. It gets cold with the water spray.
- GREAT lunch. Lots of food, lots of snacks.

I took the morning Napali Coast tour departing from Hanalei in July 2009.
We saw everything I had hoped for along the way; beautiful coastline, dolphins, turtles, and fish. Though the water was the smoothest it had been in a long time, the ride was still choppy on the way back to Hanalei.
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would take it again.
